CarnivalCARNIVAL 2010 – 2011

Currently Scheduled for Friday, MARCH 25th, 2011, 4:30 – 8:00pm

Alpharetta Elementary School hosts an annual Carnival on the school grounds. The Carnival typically features a variety of inflatables, games, crafts, basket raffles, refreshments, a bake sale, chili cook-off, cake decorating contest, and more. Admission is free and it is open to the public. Tickets for the various activities and refreshments may be purchased in advance (for a discount), or at the Carnival.

The objective of the school carnival is to raise money in a way that also provides a fun event involving teachers, students, parents, families, and the local community. The money raised during the Carnival is put back into the school through improvements and teacher grants.

The Carnival’s success is based on the vast number of volunteers. We need a number of volunteers to help with all the preparations that need to be done in advance of the event, for example, making posters, putting up signs, organizing tickets, prizes, and booth supplies. In addition, each class is in charge of running a booth and it is the Room Representative’s responsibility to acquire the commitment of approximately eight volunteers to run their assigned booth, in one-hour shifts (two volunteers per hour). Supplies, instructions and prizes will be provided for each booth.  Pitch in to help make our Carnival a huge success, by signing up to work a shift at your class’ booth.  The chili cook off and the cake-decorating contest still need participants, and we are seeking bakers of delicious treats for the bake sale.  Join the fun and share your talents with everyone! Room Reps, download a Booth Volunteer Form to distribute to your volunteers.

Please be patient with parking! Consider carpooling with a neighbor, walking to the Carnival or parking at the Milton Center and walk the back way. Click here to seeing walk path from Milton Center.

Each year we receive great feedback from families and teachers about the fun that was had by all. We continue to look for ways to improve the games and activities and to come up with new ideas to keep the Carnival fresh and fun. Please feel free to contact the chairperson, Trish Nugent, with your comments, tips, and ideas.

We are actively seeking a few Carnival Committee members and general volunteers who can help out in any capacity with preparations between now and the Carnival.
